Urban Environment

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country located in the eastern end of the Arabian Peninsula on the continent of Africa. Bordering Oman and Saudi Arabia it is a key component of the middle east. As a federal elective constitutional monarchy, the UAE is formed from a federation of seven emirates consisting of the capital Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras AL Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm AI Quwain.

With a population of 9.89 million, around 88% of UAE’s residents are from abroad. The UAE is one of the Middle East’s most important economic centres.

The happiest country in the world!

The UAE has a Minister of State for happiness and wellbeing, and aims to become one of the five happiest countries in the world by 2021!

With perfect weather and stunning beaches, the UAE has gorgeous man-made islands, the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, and the largest continuous sand desert in the world.

With a huge variety of cultures living, studying and working in the UAE, choices of food, nightlife and shopping options are bountiful!

Seven Emirates – Seven Unique Charms!

Abu Dhabi and Dubai have urban centres; however, the other emirates have incredible landscapes worth exploring.  For a stunning agricultural region, Ajman and Fujairah boasts a  countryside with mountains and architectural structures such as the Al Badiyah Mosque built more than 650 years ago.

With 64 Km of beach and coastline, Ras Al Khaimah has water sports such as water skiing, windsurfing and diving. Sharjah has a classic car museum, mangrove forest, seaside promenade, aquarium and a palace!

For an example of mixing Islamic history and culture with western influences, visit Umm Al Quwain. It offers an 18th century fort and historic architecture, alongside a huge water park and Dreamland Aqua.

Know the law

Although Dubai is more progressive than the other states, the UAE does have some strict laws that may challenge your own beliefs and differ from your country of origin- so ensure you understand the law to avoid imprisonment or deportation.
